Da Square

Why, yes, I am posting about coloring squares… u mad?

Why, yes, I am posting about coloring squares… u mad?

Truthfully, I just finished my final coloring square for a while. I only have one unfinished design left, and as told in a prior post I’m not feeling much love for it. Which opens the door to drop in this question as posed by the Isn’t She Crafty blog, which caught my attention by being my first to comment on this site:

Does anyone else buy things, get really excited by them, then tidy them away and even at times forget all about them? I only do this with crafty bits, but I’m really bad for it.

Heck yes! My wife and I have quite the stash going ourselves, without veering into hoarder territory. We do use our craft stuff eventually, but at the moment I loaded up on art supplies when I was in Chicago (as one does) and I have a stack of unused coloring books and markers (among other goodies) sitting and waiting. Ah, well.

Anyway, on to the matter at hand: I finished another self-imposed 6-color challenge. I put my #coloring branded markers in a bag, drew 6 colors, and suffered through 4 of them being variants on blue.

Here’s the finished product:

Yep, blue and orange. Chicago Bears colors, in fact. Brown was the other non-blue color and it served its purpose as a minor accent.

Here are the markers, having a curtain call:

So! I bought a pack of watercolor pencils, and I am really looking forward to trying some things out. I honestly do not intend to just work on coloring patterns ad infinitum (he says, loading up on coloring books and whatnot) and whatever comes of that will grace the virtual pages of this blog, rest assured.

Ow, my back hurts from hunching over that [infernal] coloring square.

These colours work really well together, but are ones I’d not have thought to combine in a project
